This was a revamp the previous website of the production company Born Scared Studios. The site was static; it was originally made by creating images in Photoshop and importing created slices into an HTML document. Each item above is an individual image.
The scheme was very 1990’s and had a rushed feel to it. While the logo was well designed and prominently placed it over shadowed the main content and purpose of the site which was to draw attention to works completed.
The studio focuses on dark humor and abstract comedy so an overall dark color scheme was agreed upon. This made text identity simple since the contrast with a dark scheme is easy procure with lighter coloring.
Since the human eye is naturally attracted to lighter colors in context of the image they are seeing this was an obvious choice to draw a user’s attention to the description of the project after interest had been garnered based on the project image screen cap.
One of the most important aspects of a site is the ease with which a user can access information they are looking for, therefore I generally like to adhere to the 3-click rule in which it must not take a user more than three clicks to get to the information they are seeking. This was an easy goal to accomplish as all information pertaining to the clients projects was prominently displayed in a one-pager.
For a modern look and feel, I always felt that good use of parallax scrolling adds a certain dynamic to a site no matter its simplicity. Since this clients industry is entertainment, parallax scrolling would give them a slick feel with little intrusion on the content.
